The accident took place in the Tarapur Industrial Area (MIDC) of Palghar district of Maharashtra. Four labourers were killed and two others were seriously injured when a gas leak occurred at a drug manufacturing factory of Medley Pharmaceuticals (Plot F-13) here.
The deceased have been identified as Kalpesh Raut, Bengali Thakur, Dheeraj Prajapati, and Kamlesh Yadav. Rohan Shinde and Nilesh Hadal are undergoing treatment at Shinde Hospital in Boisar.
The accident took place between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm at the Medley Pharma Company. According to sources, the incident occurred during the production of the drug Albendazole. Suddenly, the nitrogen gas leaked.
The sudden gas leak in the company caused a stir. The workers started having trouble breathing due to contact with the gas. The workers started running out. 6 workers fell into the grip of gas and fell unconscious. Later, the firefighting team controlled the gas leak.
The injured were rushed to Shinde Hospital in Bo, where doctors declared them brought dead. The condition of two employees is serious. He has been kept in the ICU.

Earlier, 2 employees were killed in a toxic gas leak at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) in Suratkal in Karnataka’s Mangaluru district. The incident took place in the Oil Movement Section (OMS) of MRPL.
The deceased have been identified as Deep Chandra Bharti from Uttar Pradesh and Bijli Prasad from Kerala. The incident took place during an investigation into the malfunction in the tank (FIBI7029) of the OMS division. Deep Chandra and Bijli Prasad had gone for inspection on the upper part of the tank when the accident occurred.
