If not treated on time, it can kill an adult in less than 24 hours. The bubonic plague is an infection that is spread to humans, mainly by infected fleas living on rodents. It is called Black Death, and during the Middle Ages, it killed millions of Europeans. Prevention requires avoiding exposure to rats, squirrels, and other infected animals.

The death toll from the bubonic plague during the fourteenth century was more than 2.5 crore. It was about two-thirds of Europe’s population at the time. The rats traveled on ships and brought fleas and plagues with them. Most people infected with the plague die, and the tissues of many people often blacken and turn to gangrene, so the bubonic plague was called the black death.
