Hockey Asia Cup 2025: Malaysia beat Korea 4-1, Bangladesh beat Chinese Taipei 8-3

Korea’s campaign to save the Asia Cup title was hit by a 1-4 crushing defeat to Malaysia on Saturday, while Bangladesh trampled Chinese Taipei 8-3 in their second match of Pool B of the hockey tournament. After this victory, Malaysia has come first in Pool B, while Bangladesh is third. Malaysia has 6 points while Korea and Bangladesh have 3 points each. At the same time, Chinese Taipei’s account is not yet open.

In the second match of the day, five-time champions Korea took the lead in the second minute with Jionhyo Jin’s field goal. But Malaysia defeated Akhimullah Anwar (29th, 34th, 58th) and Ashran Hamsani’s field goals to beat Korea. However, there is only one position difference between Malaysia (12th) and Korea (13th) in the world rankings. However, Korea was considered a strong contender in this match.

In the first match of the day, Bangladesh dominated completely and scored five goals in the last two quarters. Mohammad Abdullah (fourth and 26th minutes), Rakibul Hasan (42nd and 43rd minutes), and Ashraful Islam (45th and 58th minutes) scored two goals each for Bangladesh, while Sohanur Sobuj (36th minute) and Rezaul Babu (56th minute) also scored.

For Chinese Taipei, Tsung-u Hasih (10th and 18th minutes) scored two goals while Tsung-Jen Shih (60th minute) converted a penalty corner before the final hooter sounded. In Pool B, Bangladesh lost 1-4 to Malaysia in their first match, while Chinese Taipei lost 0-7 to Korea in their first match. Bangladesh will take on Korea in their final pool match on September 1st, while Chinese Taipei will take on Malaysia on the same day.
