Erika Kirk was named CEO of Turning Point USA, taking over the organization that her husband, Charlie Kirk, helped found and directed until his murder last week.
The decision was announced on Thursday by the organization’s board of directors on X. The post said Charlie Kirk had made it clear in previous discussions that “this is what he wanted in the event of his death.”
“We will not surrender or bow to evil,” the board members said in a statement. “We will move forward.”
Charlie Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012 and transformed it into one of the most influential conservative organizations, which is credited with galvanizing young people into Donald Trump’s MAGA movement.
In her first comments since her husband’s murder, Kirk said she was committed to continuing her husband’s work and legacy.
“To everyone who listens to us tonight across America: the movement my husband built will not die,” Kirk said in his Sept. 12 comments.
“My husband’s mission will not end, even for a moment,” she said, promising to continue the American Comeback Tour of college campuses scheduled for this fall.
Born Erika Frantzve, Kirk, 36, was raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, by her mother after her parents divorced as a child. He studied political science at Arizona State University and played basketball for a brief period in the NCAA. She won the Miss Arizona USA pageant in 2012.
The Kirks got engaged in 2020 and married the following year. They had two young children.
