PM Modi and French President Macron talked on phone, issues including Trump and Ukraine war were discussed

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron had a phone conversation on Thursday. Apart from bilateral relations, the two leaders also discussed the Russia-Ukraine war and the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

The two leaders discussed efforts to resolve the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the West Asia region, the to weported. President Macron recently shared an assessment of the meetings between the leaders of Europe, the US, and Ukraine in Washington. He also had his views on the situation in Gaza.

Prime Minister Modi, in a conversation with President Macron, reiterated India’s continued support fothe r peaceful resolution of conflicts and restoration of peace and stability at the earliest.

The two leaders also reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation agendas, including trade, defence, civil nuclear cooperation, technology, and energy. He reiterated his resolve to further strengthen the India-France strategic partnership and agreed to celebrate the year 2026 as an “Innovation Year” grand.

President Macron expressed his support for the free trade agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union to reach an early outcome. The two leaders also agreed to maintain contact on all issues.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier met French President Macron during the G7 Summit. “After the meeting, PM Modi wrote on his ‘X’ account, “It is always a pleasant experience to interact with my friend President Emmanuel Macron and discuss various issues.” India and France will continue to work together in the interest of our land.

After the terror attack in Pahalgam in April, Macron had contacted Prime Minister Modi over the phone on June 12 and said that France is firmly standing with India and its citizens in this difficult time. He had also assured that France, along with its allies, would continue to fight against terrorism.
